I survived Halloween another year, probably my least favorite “holiday”… I’ve never really liked Halloween, even as a kid.
Statuses
Sawdust
Before Saturday, I don’t remember how long it had been since I last did anything with wood… over the weekend, Li and I fashioned a simple sword of wood for part of her Halloween costume. Nothing elaborate, made from scraps we had laying around the garage, but it involved sawing, gluing, clamping, more sawing, shaping, and sanding. I tend to forget how much I enjoy working with wood: the smell, the feel, getting to watch something emerge and evolve…
Li and I were both pleased with the result, although for different reasons.
Not the Saturday I was looking for…
This was not the Saturday I was looking for. It started with two inches of snow–and still snowing–on the ground when I got up this morning. Cancelled soccer match. Leaking water heater.
Distance
Prepping for a work-trip to DC: not looking forward to being away from family and home for the better part of a week, but looking forward to a bit of distance from the incessant drum-beat of work phone and work email that might actually facilitate some productive time sandwiched around meetings and presentations…
Fourth Grade
Another adventure begins: Li starts fourth grade today. New grade, new school. I don’t think I’m ready for summer to start winding down.
